Easter is a time to point people to Christ and to community.
Sunday is one of the best opportunities you have for engaging people with the gospel message—not only through a sermon but also through groups.
We all know that Easter and Christmas are the two times of year that many people will walk into your church who never or rarely attend.
Time is running out before the most important celebration of the year. Plans have probably been made for the worship service, but here are four reminders of easy things that can be done to turn Easter attendance into group involvement.
- Promote the next study. Let people know what to expect. This will engage their interest and set expectations, making them comfortable with the idea of joining a group.
- Put information in people’s hands. Let people know when and where groups meet. Include contact information for the church, for leaders … and for you!
- Reconnect with previous visitors and attendees. Make it a priority to call people or at least send an email. Put to use the information that you’ve collected throughout the year. Ask your leaders to reach out to recruit group leaders and volunteers to help with calls and emails.
- Remind everyone to invite friends and families. Don’t forget the obvious!
What could God do if you were intentional with this incredible opportunity to turn one-time attendance toward long-term, disciple-making relationships within Christian community?
